I have another new song out today, & this one is a personally raw one.

It was a way to purge some of my emotions about the death of Mimi Parker.

I had only personally met Mimi once, & it was brief… but it stuck with me & it affected my growth as an artist.

She knew I was a little star-struck, but she was super kind & treated me in a way where if someone didn’t know what a big deal she was in the Minnesota music universe & witnessed our interaction they would’ve thought we were peers in the scene. That kind of kindness & humility towards someone like me who was grinding away playing random punk basements for gas money was mind-opening.

My brief interaction with Mimi Parker helped me stay humble & focus on making the best art I can make & express myself as genuinely as possible without compromising.

I love subtle music & I really loved the music Mimi made in the band Low. She had a role in the fact that I keep going back to the sad subtle songwriting that alienates me sometimes from the punk scenes, but keeps me honest about expressing what I really feel.
